NEW YORK'S BEST SPOTS FOR STEELER FANS

Texas Arizona (76 River Street, Hoboken, NJ, phone: 201-420-0304) - The biggest Steelers bar in New York is across the river in Jersey. You can expect a small army as the Brigade meets for regular season games, and spills into the streets when the playoffs roll around. "Roethlis-burgers" and pierogies on the menu, beer specials, and the Steelers Polka after every score. Check out Texas Arizona and the Hoboken Black & Gold Brigade on our links page.

Suspenders (111 Broadway between Thames and Pine St., 212-732-5005) – The gang that used to hang at Buster's Garage (the largest Steelers group in Manhattan) is hoping to make this place home this season. Rudy reports that they have eight HDTVs and a large projection screen with more TVs coming in the next few months. They also have an outside area ideal for a little tailgating. Hopefully, this is the place that fits the bill for the displaced Buster's gang.

Scruffy Duffy's (743 8th Ave at 46th, New York, phone: 212-245-9126) - Prime midtown sports bar, so they get fans of all types, but there's usually a decent pocket of Steelers fans on hand. There's also a Steelers banner behind the bar and a clothesline of Terrible Towels hanging overhead, so you should feel right at home. You can find a link to their site in our links area.

Molly Pitchers Ale House (1641 2nd Ave. at 85th St., New York, 212-249-3068) – Another entrant in the post-Buster’s Garage sweepstakes. Founded by a former Steelers In Hoboken member, Molly Pitchers started drawing a decent Steelers crowd in 2005.

Cody's Ale House Grill (154 Court Street, Brooklyn, NY, phone: 718-852-6115) - Yes, it looks like there’s finally a place in Brooklyn catering to Steelers fans. A decent crew has been popping up at the Cobble Hill spot for games. One of the waitresses, Christina, is even from Monroeville (ask her a ton of "Dawn of the Dead" questions... I bet she never gets that).

Hurley's (232 W. 48th St. between Broadway & 8th Ave., New York, phone: 212-765-8981 ) - The folks at Hurley's say that they are swinging their doors open for Steeler fans this season. They're looking into getting IC Light... that's worth at least a visit, right?

State of Grace Pub (1074 1st Ave between 58th & 59th St., New York, phone: 212-207-3858) - Another Manhattan bar throwing its hat into the Black and Gold ring. State of Grace claims to have plenty of flat screens and prominent placement of all the Steelers action.

Carlyn's Cove (2118 Boston Post Rd., Larchmont, NY, phone 914-834-9788) - A recent transplant to the area reports that Carlyn's Cove reserves its backroom on game days for Steeler fans... you can't ask for much more than that.

The Crow's Nest (309 Vincent Avenue & Route 17 South, Hackensack, NJ, phone: 201-342-5445) - The owners of this Hackensack spot have agreed to put all the Steelers game on complete with audio in an effort to give Jersey Steelers fans a new home. You can find a link to their site in our links area.

Reservoir Bar & Grill (70 University Place, New York, phone: 212-598-0055): A little bit of the 'Burgh in the shadow of NYU. The place draws some Steeler faithful each Sunday, and even boasts a few former Pittsburghers among its staff. You can find their site on our links page.

Ship of Fools (1590 2nd Ave, New York, phone: 212-570-2651): Word is that the front room of this upper east side ship is well-stocked with Steeler fans. I haven't been, but 36 satellite TVs and 6 big screens can't be bad. 'Burghers John Rowan, Greg Kaplan and Chris Cox wrote in to give it three thumbs up. Reservations for the front room are the way to go. You can find their site on our links page.

Blondies (212 W. 79th, New York, phone: 212-362-4360): It seems like the jury is still out on this upper west side sports bar. Some say they get a "pretty big Steeler following." Others say it's "not worth the trip." You can find their official site on our links page.

Skybox Cafe (1494 Post Rd., Fairfield, CT, phone: 203-259-7535) - Tom, our man in Nyack, scoped this place out. Word is, the owner maybe a former Pittsburgher. The Rod Woodson and Greg Lloyd stuff on the walls is reason enough to go there. You can find their site on our links page.

Buster's Garage (180 W. Broadway, New York, NY, phone 212-226-6811) - The former home of one of Manhattan's largest Steeler gatherings has temporarily closed for renovations. If you're a Buster's regular, check out M1-5 above.

MI-5 (52 Walker St. between Church and Broadway) - Some of the Buster's Garage folks were giving this place a try as well, though they've since started to look elsewhere. Take that for what it's worth.

Quigley’s (313 1st Ave. at 18th St., New York, 212-253-9440) – The Buster’s gang also tried this place, but apparently moved on.
